My Little Angel

Screamed the place down for around 45 minutes. I say 45, as for about 10 of that chunk of time she was asleep, still wailing. I woke her up after 20 minutes (as she wont sleep in the evening otherwise), and she continued to scream for another 10.

Fun times. I guess having hearing problems has it's bonuses, as it doesn't matter how loud she screams, it can't get worse. Well, it could, but her screams wont be what does it.

Other than that, we did lots this weekend in various places which are in more detail over here.

Also, now Shaun is no longer studying we're doing family things, like making a pirate ship out of her old cardboard box car. It's pretty ace, and we're picking up lots of pirate related goodness as we go along. This is a picture of her false hand.

I'm not a lazy mother, however, as we were at the school fair yesterday I bought some home made playdough for £1, which gave H something to play with this afternoon when the rain got a bit too heavy.

She loved it, her fingers were caked in the stuff.

It's Been A While

Over a week. Cripes! But there's a reason - we had our first ever family holiday - just the three of us in a caravan (which was more like a chalet on wheels) at Devon Cliffs near Exmouth, our own private beach (so why when it's empty does the next family sit so close to us?!) and free Wifi in the big pub and the smaller bar near the beach (I got twitchy, no internet... but limited on my phone) - plus tons for H to do.

Prior to that, H had her eyes tested. I'll write about it in more depth over at the Adequate Parent but basically, she needs glasses. We're going shopping for some this afternoon - she's looking forward to it. I'm dreading them breaking at nursery or something.... it's not major, but there's enough of a problem she needs them.

This meant we left later on the Friday, and got to Exmouth for 6pm, got to our chalet place ("little house" said H) and headed to the complex - where there was a Papa John's which delivers to the chalets! So a quick (ha) play on the Soft Play area, and we headed back to get ready for a busy few days... and that we had. The theme seemed to be trains which suited us all fine. We had rain, but plenty of sun and got to see lots of things.

The biggest eye opener was finding out you can buy holiday homes down there for £10k. We don't own any property, and we're quite tempted... it'd guarantee us holidays for the forseeable future too... but it needs more thought for now.

H had a fantastic time. There was so much there geared towards her needs - and it wasn't all sponsored and in your face - just things she wanted to do. She loved the beach, even if she ran back to me almost in tears after her first paddle "MUMMY I DON'T LIKE IT" sort of stuff. She was generally well behaved (only a handful of tantrums) and only a handful of night terrors... (one at Rachel and Joe's place).

So now we're home.

Welcome to Snotsville

Shaun picked up H from nursery today, and they waited at the station for me. H announced "I need medicine" when I got into the car, and my poor baby was watery eyed and tired and wasn't her usual self, definitely coming down with a cold. I'm resigned to being at home with her tomorrow feeling slightly resentful for using a days holiday.

We had a coughpuke this evening too - she was coughing so hard, and I don't think she's actually sick - right now she's off into the land of nod at her usual time smothered in menthol-y stuff, so I'm hoping we're back on track. Whatever happens tonight she's just got to stay asleep... Shaun has his last (hopefully ever) exam tomorrow and last night we had a 2am wakeup (with her throwing herself onto the floor when she refused to go back to bed, THAT was fun...) and a 5.30 getting into bed with us (I make a great pillow, unfortunately I get zero sleep once I become a pillow) - so I'm hoping we're not on for a repeat. I'm willing to sacrifice my precious sleep in the hope that he'll never have to study for an exam ever ever again. Ever.

Having said that, she shouted me upstairs for a cuddle just before, and announced she feels much better now and would like to go to nursery tomorrow, so hopefully it's a passing thing or just the start of a snotty cold. I'll know when I see her in the morning. That'll be 6.30 in the morning, I hope...

I do feel a bit heartless sending her to nursery if there's any chance she's not right - though if there was any real doubt then she'll definitely be off. It's 50-50 at the moment.

Phew.

See, a new blog starts and this one suffers for it.

So in a nutshell, we had a crazy yesterday - Dramabuds, the Carshalton Carnival parade and The Wiggles. H and J loved The Wiggles though H was too tired to really join in, which made me sad.

This morning I was sat on Facebook and realised two people I knew were going, so had a look for tickets and found two available... then thought about it. Then looked again and two better seats were available, so bought them, got H ready, jumped in the car and we had a fantastic time at The Wiggles again (bar the accident when her mouth made contact with my knee and there was lots of blood and tears). She met Greg and was happy, and went to sleep a happy toddler tonight, so I can't really ask for much more than that.

I'm all Wiggled out now though.

The highlight of both days was H's face in this video, and it STILL makes me laugh.

Though today's highlight was H dancing, even if it wasn't any of the animals they were singing about
